Here's a drop shadow filter.

Move it into the ~/Library/Compositions/ folder (create the Compositions folder if necessary) and the filter will appear in Filters > Quartz Composer > Others once Pixelmator is relaunched. You can customize the blur radius, the position offset and the color of the shadow.

You can get and install the related inner shadow and outline filters the same way.

Please tell me if you have an idea of improvement.

Enjoy Smile !

When I clicked your Drop Shadow link, nothing happened. Was I supposed to see something when I clicked it?

Thanks

Thanks!

Works great, too bad about the preview.

Nice, however my object, a red square, turned black until I clicked ok for the filter. So the preview needs to be worked on. Not bad to start and helps fill one of Pixelmators minuses.

Thanks,

Ed

Nice plugin, thanks for your efforts. A preview screen would make this truly great.

Result is great.

The others seem to have varying results with previews. In my case the image disappears until I press OK which is not ideal.

However it is far preferable to the alernative.

Well, it seems that I can't do anything about the preview bug, it is likely caused by Pixelmator itself. Perhaps will it be fixed in a future version.

Glad to know the filter is helping you out!

I'm a little green here.
What do you mean by dropping it into the ~/Library/Compositions/ folder ?

The tilde at the beginning of the path represents your home folder, the one containing your Pictures, Documents, Movies, etc, folders.
To access directly a path, the simplest way probably is to use the "Go to..." command of Finder's "Go" menu and to copy and paste the path.
(not sure about the exact menu names)

Once in the folder, you just have to move the .qtz file into it and relaunch Pixelmator.

Hi Chamyky

I have been using this great joy since I got it, and think apart from the shadow it could work very well for a simple, quick outliner. With that in mind, would it be possible to have another slider for the colour saturation?

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. You want to be able to desaturate the image you're applying the shadow to?

No, I want be able to set the shadow saturation anywhere from normal shadow to 100%. Is that possible?

Here we go: Outline.qtz.
Combine with a drop shadow for the best effect.
