Customize your app

In Photomator preferences, you can choose how the app looks, behaves, or how it displays content. These settings apply across editing sessions and different Photomator documents.

Change the accent color

Changing the color of buttons is a fun way to customize Photomator and make it your own. To change the accent color:

  1. In the Photos or the Files browser, tap Preferences at the top of the screen.
  2. Under Accent Color, tap to choose the color you want.
Set the default image quality

When exporting images to JPEG or HEIF file formats you can choose the quality at which you want to save them. In other words, you can determine how compressed the final images will be. If you want to always export at a certain quality, you can save this setting as default. The setting will also apply when automatically saving changes or sharing images to other apps.

  1. In the Photos or the Files browser, tap Preferences at the top of the screen.
  2. Drag the Image Quality slider to set the desired image quality.

The lower percentage means the image file is more compressed and smaller in size.

Choose an editing workflow
  1. Open the Photos or the Files browser in Photomator, tap Preferences at the top of the screen and tap Editing.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • Turn on Preserve Edits — Enables non-destructive workflow and preserves the changes you make to photos in a linked Photomator file.
    • Turn off Preserve Edits — Enables destructive editing and applies changes directly to the photo you're editing.

See About editing workflows to learn more about nondestructive and destructive editing.

By default, Photomator creates a dedicated album in your Photos library, where it automatically adds each photo you edit using the app. You can choose to turn this album off or turn it back on in the Photomator settings:

  2. Under Settings, tap Photos and turn the Photomator Album option on or off.
View albums as list

  2. Do one of the following:
    • Turn on "View Albums as List" option to list Photos albums in alphabetical order.
    • Turn off "View Albums as List" option to displayed albums as they appear in the Photos library.
Choose photo preview type and size in the Photos browser

When in the Photos browser, tap the More button to change zoom or view photos by aspect ratio or as squares.
