Nondestructive

Nondestructively apply and edit Layer Styles.

Layer Styles are completely nondestructive, so you can go back to adjust each style whenever you want — without affecting the rest of your changes. You can also nondestructively apply multiple Strokes, Fills, and Shadows to a single layer, rearrange their order and turn them off or back on whenever you want.

Presets

Save and share the Layer Styles you create.

Instantly customize the look of any one or even multiple layers in your image by applying a Layer Style Preset — a custom collection of styles. Presets make it easier to create beautiful, consistent designs much more quickly. And you can save the Presets you create, use them in any of your images, or even share them with others.

  • Share Presets

Sharing Presets couldn’t be easier — all you need to do is drag the Preset from Pixelmator Pro onto your Desktop, into a Finder window, or even straight into a Mail message, then send it to anyone you want.

  • Import Presets

Importing Presets is, again, incredibly easy. Simply open the Preset file, or drag and drop it into Pixelmator Pro.

Blending

Customize how each individual layer blends with the rest of your image.

Customize how each individual layer or layer group in your image blends with the rest of your composition. Reduce Opacity to make layers and layer groups partially transparent. And choose from over 20 different Blending Modes to blend layers in a range of distinctive ways, create dazzling effects, and experiment with different styles.

  • Opacity

Opacity determines how opaque a layer or layer group is. At 100%, it’s fully opaque and completely blocks everything underneath it, but as you reduce Opacity, everything underneath becomes gradually more visible.

  • Blending Mode

Choose from over 20 Blending Modes to blend layers in a range of distinctive ways, create dazzling effects, and experiment with different styles. Blending modes included: Normal, Behind, Darken, Multiply, Color Burn, Linear Burn, Darker Color, Lighten, Screen, Color Dodge, Linear Dodge, Lighter Color, Overlay, Soft Light, Hard Light, Vivid Light, Linear Light, Pin Light, Hard Mix, Difference, Exclusion, Subtract, Divide, Hue, Saturation, Color, and Luminosity.

Stroke

Add colored or gradient outlines around layers.

Outline the contents of any layer in your image using a color or gradient. Customize the width of the Stroke, its Style, and adjust Opacity.

  • Stroke Width

Adjust the width of the Stroke to add anything from a razor thin outline to a big and bold one.

  • Stroke Style

Customize the style of your Stroke. Choose whether it falls outside or inside the edges of your layer, or choose the Center option so it falls directly on the edges of a layer. And you can also choose from three different line styles — solid, dashed, or dotted strokes.

  • Stroke Fill

Chose whether your Stroke is filled with a solid color or a gradient.

  • Stroke Opacity

Adjust the Opacity of the Stroke so the contents of the layers below become visible through it.

  • Stroke Blending Mode

Choose from over 20 Blending Modes to blend your Stroke with layers in a range of distinctive ways, create dazzling effects, and experiment with different styles.

Fill

Fill layers with colors, gradients, and patterns.

Fill the contents of any layer in your image using a color, gradient, or pattern. And customize Opacity and Blending Mode to fine-tune how the Fill blends with the contents of the layer.

  • Fill Color

Fill the contents of a layer with a solid color.

  • Gradient Fill

Fill the contents of a layer with a gradual transition between multiple colors.

Fill the contents of a layer with a custom pattern.

Adjust Opacity to make the Fill partially transparent.

  • Fill Blending Mode

Customize how the Fill blends with anything below it.
