Arrange Tool

The smartest and most intuitive Arrange Tool around.

The Arrange Tool in Pixelmator Pro is the smartest, fastest, and most intuitive of its kind. It’s smart because it can automatically detect what kind of layer you’ve selected to display the most relevant options for each one. Fast because there’s no delay as you move and align layers, even in large and complex images. And intuitive because all the options you need are just where you expect to find them. And best of all, it’s completely nondestructive, so you can resize, rotate, and reposition with total freedom.

  • Nondestructive

Everything you do with the Arrange Tool is nondestructive. That means every detail of all the layers in your image is always preserved — so you can resize, rotate, and reposition layers freely, but go back to the original at any time without losing any quality.

  • Auto Select

The Arrange Tool automatically detects what kind of layer you’ve selected to give you the most relevant options. So you can forget about manually choosing layers in the Layers view and keep all the focus on your composition.

  • Layer Stack

Change the order of layers in the layer stack by instantly sending your selected layer forwards, backwards, to the front, or back of your composition.

  • Position

Intuitively move layers around your image to position them anywhere you like or, for more precision, enter exact positional settings.

  • Align and Distribute

Align and distribute any and every selected layer relative to any other layer or the boundaries of your image.

  • Resize

Nondestructively change the size of any layer. Resize layers manually by dragging the resize handles or enter the exact size you need in the Arrange Tool options. Use the Constrain Proportions option to easily maintain a layer’s aspect ratio as you resize, or turn it off to resize freely.

  • Rotate

    Rotate any layer nondestructively.

  • Flip

Instantly flip layers vertically or horizontally.

  • Quick Transform

Quick Transform puts the most common transform actions all in one place. So you can shrink down an object to half its size or rotate it by a quarter-turn with a single click.

  • Reset

Because the Arrange Tool is nondestructive, after you change the size, angle, or position of a layer, you can reset each one individually while keeping the rest of your changes.

Layers

Full-featured layer-based image editing.

Pixelmator Pro is a layer-based image editor. This means that instead of simply editing a single photo or image at a time, you can add and combine different kinds of layers, like shapes, text, and multiple images to create stunning compositions and designs. And you can add layers in delightfully quick and simple ways, such as by dragging and dropping them straight into Pixelmator Pro, or using the built-in Photo Browser.

Easily lock any layer or layer group when you’ve finished working with it, or to stop from accidentally making any changes you don’t want.

  • Preserve Transparency

Use Preserve Transparency to prevent from editing the see-through parts of a layer.

Alignment Guides

Place guides to help you build your compositions.

Place Alignment Guides to help you precisely position objects in your images. Whenever you move anything around, whether it’s an image, text, or shape layer, it will snap neatly into place along your guides.

Smart Guides

Precisely arrange layers more quickly and easily.

Pixelmator Pro includes Smart Spacing and Smart Sizing guides to help you evenly arrange objects more quickly and easily. As you move and align objects, Smart Spacing guides temporarily pop up when the space between multiple objects is even, snapping your object into place. And when resizing, Pixelmator Pro gently snaps your layer to the size of any other similarly sized layers.

Snapping

Quickly snap anything into place.

When you bring almost any object close to another, whether it’s an image, text layer, a selection, or even a guide, it will automatically snap into place alongside other objects in your composition.

Rulers

Measure and arrange anything in your composition.

The Pixelmator Pro Rulers help you measure and arrange layers with pixel-accurate precision. And you can also quickly place Guides in your image by dragging them directly from your rulers.

  • Centered Zero

Place zero at the center of your ruler, so its units increase to the left and right.

So you can find out the exact color you’re currently hovering over, your cursor position, the size of your currently selected layer, how far you’ve moved it, and a lot more — just by glancing above your image.
