It looks like we never received your emails — I checked the Spam folder as well and there are no emails from anybody with your name... (in fact, we forward all spam emails to the main mailbox to avoid issues like this).
Are you sure you sent the email to the right address? Maybe a typo got in the way somewhere?

Is there no update, it has to be purchased again?
Yep, every single update to the original Pixelmator since it was released on the Mac App Store in 2011 (that's almost 8 years ago) has been completely free. If you're being prompted to buy the app again, it usually means you're using a different Apple ID, you've changed your Apple ID region, or you've accidentally hidden the purchase.
