How to create a chain shape?

I looked around to draw an ID chain, I could find some videos with Photoshop but some features are not available in Pixelmator. Can anyone help me with this? Adding what I want to do..

Hi, I need to do t from scratch and will do with round and hexagonal shapes. Any chance?

Found my own way, a little tricky.
- Make a rounded recangular, do not fill, stroke with your own thickness.
- Duplicate
- Turn into pixels
- Half it with rectangular selection
- Cut and paste anywhere.
- Organise the layers within.

I was just typing some even trickier steps. I essentially attempted to recreate this tutorial here the Pixelmator Pro way. But to be fair, your method seems quicker and much less complicated. Of course, one downside is that you lose the freedom of additionally editing the shapes after you rasterize them.
