Sneak Peek at Pixelmator 3.6 Cordillera

Hey everyone, this is just a quick note to say that we’re working on an awesome update to Pixelmator for Mac. It will add full support for macOS Sierra and it’ll be called Pixelmator 3.6 Cordillera. In the meantime, we’d love to share with you just one of the new features you’ll be seeing in this update – Tabs.

Of course, there’s a lot more in store, but we wouldn’t want to give everything away just yet. And yes, this one’s going to be a free update for all users who purchased Pixelmator from the Mac App Store. Stay tuned!

Ooh, perfect feature addition for MacOS! Great work!
Sorry for seeming impatient, but are you looking into the possibility of “Smart Layers” and/or “PSD-templates”-functionality? That and path-following text is the only things I miss from Photoshop which I left two years ago in favour of Pixelmator!
And; are you looking for beta-testers for iOS and/or MacOS? Feel free to add my mail to the TestFlight-list if that’s the case!
Cheers and keep up the good workQ

Nice to hear that you are developing a new version, please keep us updated, it is very sad when we don’t hear news from you. A quick update from time to time will be appreciated.

Max, smart layers are a tricky one. We don’t have plans to add something like this any time particularly soon, but it’s on our radar as a possibility for the future. As for typing along a path – this is a feature we’d like to add at some point. Finally, we’re not currently looking for beta testers, but if you drop us an email at support@pixelmator.com, we can make a note and get in touch if that changes.

Franco, that’s a fair point – thanks for the feedback!

Any plans to update the overall interface a bit? On a 13″ retina I just keep moving all side windows around as they are constantly overlapping and getting in the way. Also, I am 30 with perfect vision, but things are getting insanely small..

Agree with Loek about the side windows…gets very messy with overlapping windows.

Great news! The 3.5.1 does not work with Sierra or iOS 10.0.2 imported images from iPhone 7.

Thanks for the update. I am wondering whether we have plan to support single window mode at least provide user a choice.

    Thanks for the great work.

Pixelmator is awesome, but as Loek my biggest complaint is thé absence of unified windows, is get quickly very messy without this feature

I haven’t bug friends inside Apple Engineering and thought I’d run this past you first regarding state layout upon closing on a primary view and a secondary or ternary display view.

Every time I plug in an external monitor all preset layouts are overlapping on the primary monitor, thus defeating the point of the external monitor storing the past state. Perhaps this is Apple’s canard in their extended desktop view [which should really be a virtual desktop view that remembers state] or perhaps it’s your current implementation.

Color me spoiled from working at NeXT and Apple and having DisplayPostscript and even though NeXTSTEP lacked virtual desktops at the time, the secondary or ternary display states of applications were always observed and remembered.

Hi, I just upgraded to Sierra and having a major issue with the gradients.. I can not get it out of angle and its not showing all the colors with the rainbow v. that you supply.

1- Thanks for giving us Mac users an update and quick look at what Pixelmator team is working on… wish to see more of this in the future (like back in the days)

2- Tabs feature is a great start but hope it culminates into an user selectable Single Window mode approach.

3- I agree with Marc Driftmeyer that external display support does not keep the layout.. it jumbles up all the panels on to the main display the instant I unplug the external monitor.

Keep up the great work with Pixelmator! it is one of the BIG reasons I am still using a Mac. the attention to detail and implementation of the latest features the macOS provides with exclusive technology like the magnetic select tool are telling of how much do care for your project! Thanks again!

Please do a single window mode and my life is complete. I love this app, Photoshop is so crap compared to this, especially performance wise.

Great, can’t wait. A new all grown up logo would be welcome as well.

You need to make sure all the windows show. Right now I can’t show tools or shapes. They aren’t behind any other window. Some windows I had to hide then show for them to appear. An OS update should not break an app. There is enough notice regarding the update that the app should be ready for the update. You obviously were not.
