Nice one, now I am only waiting for my Mac Pro to get here!!!!
I hope Yosemite isn’t buggy like Mavericks. Had to ditch Mavericks as I had too many problems with it. Seems like Mavericks is OK if you got a Mac with it pre-installed, but problematic as an upgrade. Still on Pixelmator 3.1, will wait for early adopter feedback on Yosemite before attempting an upgrade. Ho-hum.
Just got my new MacBook Pro, can’t wait to use 3.2.1 on it. Thanks!!!
Glad you fixed the issue when invoking a Share sheet on Yosemite!
Give us an 4:3 and 3:2 ratio in crop tool. This is very useful for us photographers.
Thanx for the fantastic program.
Thanks, Bernd, for the suggestion!
Thanks a lot for your awesome application!
Thanks for the update! :) I hope that version 3.3 will be (still) compatible with Mavericks as well…
@Rae, yes Pixelmator 3.3 will be compatible with OS X Mavericks!
Markz: I never upgrade my OS, I always do a clean install and reinstall all of the apps. Yes it is a pain but now that many apps can come from the App Store it is not as much of a pain as it use to be. I have had no problems with Mavericks. I use mostly the Pro Apps and Pixelmator.
Will you please sort out the lunacy feature that is when a Layer is locked you can still select the object. Madness! It’s very annoying and defeats the purpose of a locked Layer. When a Layer is locked, nothing should be selectable i.e Photoshop, Affinity Designer, etc, these apps lock Layers, properly.
Please sort it out…
Oh, and please put padlock icon within the Layer panel (or on the Layer itself) in order to lock the Layer as having to right click everytime you want to lock a Layer is extremely ineffective.
@Jake, I suspect you haven’t got the latest Pixelmator update. Check Pixelmator > About Pixelmator.
planned other interface languages?
I do have the latest update. But that doesn’t help fix the issues with locking Layers.
1) Even if the layer is locked, objects can still be selected, you can’t move them, but they can still be selected. This is a nightmare to work with if you have many objects on the canvas. Objects shouldn’t even be selectable if the layer is locked. It’s counterproductive. As i said above this defeats the purpose of a locked Layer.
2) There is still no padlock icon within the Layer panel (or on the Layer itself) in order to lock the Layer. Again, it’s extremely ineffective from a GUI stand point.
I’m hoping the above can be fixed within the next update…
I’ve tried to select objects in a locked layer, but haven’t been able to. The nice thing with having to do the right click to lock a layer is that the lock icon is only there when the layer is actually locked. In the other case, you will always see a lock layer, either being open or close. I prefer the current situation.
Objects can still be selected, you can’t move them, but they can still be selected and when you do the Layer the object is placed on becomes active.
A locked Layer should’t even be selectable in the first place. It’s extremely counterproductive when working with many objects on the canvas as locked Layers can be selected accidentally, which in turn makes the Layer active.
I’ve uploaded a simple example of this:
@Jake, thanks for the video! What happens on screen isn’t normal. Pixelmator doesn’t behave this way, could you email us at email@example.com? We’ll take it from there.
I’ve emailed the Pixelmator team as requested. You guys are doing a great job with Pixelmator and it’s just wee things that need ironed out that’ll make the app better. I use it everyday. Keep up the good work!
Again, in my case i can’t even select an object in a locked layer (no handles becoming active). It makes sense though when you can’t even select the whole layer at all (but still can right click it in order to access menu items)
Interested to find out how this works with other people. Is it a bug that you can still select objects? A bug i don’t seem to have?
I’ve deleted the video now. Turns out you need to deselect the Auto Select feature off within the Move Tool. It’s all good now.
An issue trying to upgrade to 3.2.1. The update appears in App Store. After pressing Update, App Store keeps prompting “Download for free? The item will be added to your Purchases and will be available even if your Family Sharing status changes” However, nothing ever happens. I just noticed that Pixelmator no longer appears on my purchased apps list.
OK. Too fast post, sorry. For some reason it was hidden in my Purchased list. After unhiding all works as it is supposed.
You know Xcode6 supports PDF vector image assets, which is a great convienient way for developer, does Pixelmator 3.2.1 supports to export PDF vector image format ?
@liang, Pixelmator supports only raster PDFs, but thanks for the comment!
“I’m sorry, Pixelmator requires OS X 10.9, or later. We don’t support earlier Pixelmator versions.”
That’s the answer of Pixelmator on my request for an byable version for my Max OS 10.6.8
No support!! What a miseralble, haughty attutude.
Rick, I don’t believe your response makes sense. This is what you’ll see quite often in this business. Companies don’t maintain software packages for old versions of the OS. In the meantime, OS X 10.10 is about to be released. Don’t expect any vendor to support 3 or 4 OS releases back. That’s history. If you own a car, you’ll see that car manufacturers don’t put new interfaces for phones and other electronics in 4 year old models. So the behaviour is not unique to software.
By the way, sorry to have misspelled your name. Should have been (Mr.) Rieks.
He comprado la aplicacion en español y me gustaría tener los tutoriales en español. Gracias
If the Pixelmator Team wants to move on with technology, they HAVE to stop supporting old versions of OSes.
OS X 10.6, as we’re speaking, is very old in this day and age. Plus, Apple making OS X free is a bigger thing than people believe for 3rd-party : it enables them to bring all the latest technologies without worrying some people won’t be able to take advantage of it. When you’re a developer, it doesn’t take long to understand that. That’s also a strength of OS X as opposed to Windows, with technologies stuck 5 years ago, and that explains why 3rd-party apps on Windows are more often than not way inferior to what OS X has to offer.
If your Mac cannot support more than 10.6, it’s probably the time to change. Look for refurbs or resales if you don’t have much money. You can get a 2009 MBP like mine for about $300 and upgrade it to an SSD for $150 and have a blazing fast machine for very little money. It supports Yosemite fine.
As much as I have always seemed like a whiner when standing up and front about the pure-black interface that Pixelmator has, I have to give due credit to the developers for always using the latest technologies in this app.
Hi, I will the current vertion of Pixelmator run on Yosemite or do I have to wait until 3.3?
@jduncan: Yes, Pixelmator 3.2.1 works with OS X Yosemite.
Cool! I can’t wait for OS X Yosemite support.
I have one suggestion: the ability to set Pixelmator files as desktop wallpapers.
OS X is not like Windows, in which there are people still running XP (14+ years old atm) and such.
It’s a different culture, which values moving on and adopting latest techologies.
With Windows you get the “it works for years” security — but it goes hand in hand with obsolete UIs living alongside the latest MS offerings, delayed support for new technologies and interfaces, viruses (as a consequence of old, unsupported software still running), bloat and instability (as a consequence of having to support many layers of backwards compatibility), etc.
With Mac you get the need to fork out some money every 4-5 years (for hardware — then again, how many people don’t do that already regardless of platform? It’s not like the Mac catters to the frugal part of the market), and you need to update your OS (which has long been dirt cheap compared to Windows and has now become free). You get some instability and having to adapt to newer (and not always better) UI changes, but you help move the platform forward.
When will you make the app compatible for iPhone (6+)?
I have the Mac version which is great and would buy it for iPhone with no doubt. When it is out.
